Surgical Procedure
Step 1: Booking Surgery
Patients will meet with Dr. Tsang to discuss the risks and benefits of their surgical procedure. If there is a consensus to proceed with surgery, patients will be asked to review and sign a surgical consent form. A potential surgery date will be provided at the appointment, or the patient will be placed on a waiting list and contacted at a later time with a date. The exact time of the surgery is subject to change.
Please note that non-urgent surgical procedures may need to be rescheduled due to urgent oncology surgeries that may arise. We will contact patients as soon as possible to advise of their new surgery date.
Step 2: Preparing for Surgery
Depending upon the patient’s health status and the type of surgery, the patient may be required to attend a pre-operative consultation at Health Sciences North with Anesthesia and/or Internal Medicine. Dr. Tsang will advise whether a pre-operative consultation is required.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, patients are required to complete a Covid-19 test prior to their surgery date. The Covid-19 screening centre will contact patients directly to arrange a time to take the test.
Specific times for procedures on the day of surgery are determined by the hospital. The hospital will contact patients in advance with instructions on how to prepare for surgery and when to arrive.
